Forbidden City

The Emperor's secret city.

The work to build The Forbidden City began in the fifteenth century. More than one million workers were involved in the construction of the 9,999 pieces that make up the palace on a total surface area of 720,000 m².
The Imperial Palace was home to the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, their courtiers and a considerable number of servants.
It became a museum in 1925 and The Forbidden City was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
